History Of Dunkley's

The Village of Addison lies on Salt Creek. The community itself was originally named Dunkley’s Grove after an early settler named Hezekiah Dunkley. Later on, it was named Addison, after a village in England.

Around the 1840s, Addison had a population of 200 people. It was a village that was proud of its cobbler’s shop, a general store and a blacksmith shop. Currently known as Lake Street is where the carriages stopped to change the horses.

Today, the village of Addison’s population is 36,820.

At Dunkley's Tavern, we thrive to enrich our atmosphere  with the past values and traditions of Dunkley's Grove.
